Tips & Products to Help Your Pet Beat the Heat

The summer heat has arrived and is here to stay for some time, so we would love to give you some helpful tips & products to help Fido keep his cool.  

Tip 1:

On hot days it’s not uncommon to see our pups and cats stretched out on the cool tile floor in the kitchen or even post up near a fan. On hot summer days leave your pup at home while the sun is at its hottest and instead opt to exercise your pet in the morning hours or after the sun has set. Remember if pavement is too hot for you to walk on barefoot, it's too hot for your pup. Same goes for sitting in parked cars- it only takes minutes for the internal temperatures of a car to rise into the hundreds on a 78 degree day- yes, even with the windows cracked.

Tip 2:

Hydration is key! On hot days remember to fill your pet's dish with fresh cool water and consider adding another dish so your pets have plenty of drinking options. Going to the beach for the day or to a park? Don’t forget your portable dog dishes to keep your pup feeling good.

Tip 3:

Always be mindful of your pet's breed and age, both factor into how heat sensitive your pet is. Older pets can overheat easier and any flat faced pup will have a much harder time keeping cool on hot days. Always exercise these breeds with extreme caution on warm days.
